Founded in Bavaria, at home in the world
How the Brückner Group balances global leadership with local ties
It is an international success story. Brückner Maschinenbau was founded in Bavaria back in 1960. Over the decades, this individual enterprise evolved into a globally active group. Today, around 2,700 employees across 17 locations in 12 countries play their part in maintaining the Brückner Group’s leading technological position – and providing the highest quality of service. Particular importance is attached to meeting the individual requirements of Brückner Group customers. All over the world.
The four business units form the foundations of the Group – and all of them are market and technology leaders in their respective fields: Brückner Maschinenbau, Brückner Servtec, Kiefel, and PackSys Global.
Globalization as a business model
From the Bavarian and Swiss idyll out into the big wide world
“We realized early on that we needed to be present at local level in the growth markets,” says Dr. Jens Grünewald, Head of Group Strategy at the Brückner Group. “This is also a basic requirement for securing market leadership in the global niche markets served by the Brückner Group companies.” Christian Aigner, Director of After-Sales and Service at Brückner Servtec, also sees the international network, which has grown over the decades, as a key driver of success for the Brückner Group.

"We have a global sphere of influence, but at the same time we have put down incredibly strong local roots. Our teams are familiar with the cultural practices of each location, enabling us to perfectly adapt our products and service to the needs of our customers in the various markets. Because one thing is certain: Only companies that take a decentralized approach will be able to survive in a globalized world."

An overview of the Brückner Group’s key markets
How do you conquer new markets? With better toothpaste tubes, for instance
PackSys Global was in the right place at the right time with its tube expertise.
The recycling process for multi-material packaging such as ABL (aluminum barrier laminate) is very complex and involves a great deal of effort. That is why the aluminum layer is being replaced by a plastic barrier.

"In Brazil, we were able to gain the decisive edge by switching from aluminum barrier laminate to plastic barrier laminate tubes."
Beat Rupp, CEO of PackSys Global
The advantage of this is that the plastic barrier laminate is composed of materials that can very easily be reused. PBL tubes are more recyclable and look and feel better. Why is this especially important in Brazil? “Because they have a different toothpaste culture there,” says Beat Rupp.
In Germany, one toothpaste brand is generally used per household. In Brazil, on the other hand, each family member traditionally has their own favorite brand, which in turn means one toothpaste tube per person. For this reason, the tubes in Brazil need to have a longer shelf life.
Acting globally – engaging locally
The Brückner Group continues to set new technological standards. However, the Group also sees it as its role to get involved in social and environmental initiatives as well as cultural activities at local level, helping to create a lasting bond between the Brückner Group and the various regions in which it operates.
For all the cultural diversity, there is also a strong unifying element within the Group worldwide
Dr. Jens Grünwald explains: “We are globally positioned – and yet we stick closely together and embrace shared values. What we all have in common is a unique spirit: trust, responsibility, and the shared desire to make a difference.”

"What unites us across all locations is our commitment to the highest quality standards."
Dr. Jens Grünwald, Head of Group Strategy at the Brückner Group
Christian Aigner from Brückner Servtec also shares this view: “The human factor is always the most important when it comes to success. No matter where in the world people work, we allow our branch offices to take on a great deal of responsibility. The trust we place in our international colleagues makes them feel respected and valued, helping our global network to grow together.”
This global sense of community combined with the highest quality standards is a success principle for all past and future worldwide activities of the Brückner Group.
From Thailand to Colombia, from India to the USA, we are one team, we pull together.
